World Record Nomination 17: Baskin-Robbins - The Largest Chain of Ice Cream Specialty Shops
(WorldKings) It is summer now and nothing is better than an ice-cream right in the middle of a sunny day. So, where we can get the best ice-cream? Well, I can't tell you that but how do you think about the largest chain of ice-cream shops? There must be something that make them the largest, isn't it?
In 1945, the pair of brothers-in-law, Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins, decided to merge their own ice-cream parlours to found Baskin-Robbins. From some small parlours within a small town (Glendale, California) in the beginning year, they went to have 6 stores in 1948 and then went international in 1970s, with stores opened in Japan, Saudi Arabia, Korea and Australia. Interestingly, it is another "From local to global" story.
The number of Baskin-Robbins shops is still increasing. It is estimated that there are over 7.300 Baskin-Robbins locations around the world, including nearly 2.500 shops in the United States and over 4.800 located internationally (up to 50 countries having Baskin-Robbin shops).

Developing quickly, yes, but Baskin-Robbins never forgot what has made their name, ice-cream. Since 1945, the company has introduced more than 1.000 flavors, an outstanding number in comparison to other brands. However, they have been concentrating on some main flavours, and now they have 31 best flavours from their history, which is presented on their logo.

Some of Baskin-Robbins top flavours are Pineapple Coconut, Butter Almond Crunch, Gold 'n Glory, Dulce De Leche,... and they do not only sell ice-cream. There are also frozen beverages and special ice-cream cakes. So it's really good to try Baskin-Robbins in summer and find out what is the secret of the largest chain of ice-cream shop in the world.
