World Record Nomination 4: Lionel Messi - Most consecutive Ballon D'or won by a player
(Records.vn) Lionel Messi has became a legend, yes, a true legend while he's still playing for Catalunya Giant every week.
At the age of 28, Messi has broken a bunch of records, from club level to the international level, individually and collectively. He achieved the Guinness World Records for the most goals in a calendar year (2012) when he scored 91 goals. He also owns the record of most international goals in a calendar year, with 25 goals (shared with Vivian Woodward)... The striker of Barcelona is the only football player who ever won Ballon d’Or, FIFA World Player, Pichichi Trophy and Golden Shoe in the same season (2009/2010).

Although there are some comments that Messi cannot become a legend like Pele or Maradona did because he never won a World Cup trophy, but it can be denied that he is one of the greatest football player of all time. His winning records at the biggest individual award of FIFA proved that. Till now, Messi is the first and the only one who won 4 FIFA Ballon D'or (Golden Ball), more than Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo de Lima and Zinedine Zidane (each player won 3). More impressive, he won them consecutively (2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012).

In the last 2 years, Messi was beaten by his best rival, Cristiano Ronaldo at Ballon D'or, but those results only made our 'Leo' more desirable for winning. He and Blaugrana are playing successfully in the beginning of 2015 with 5 victories at La Liga. If Messi continue to play like that, he can secure the 5th Ballon D'or trophy for himself.
World Record Union are still collecting more information from many sources and it is our pleasure listening to everybody's comments to have a full evaluation on the record nomination: "Lionel Messi - Most consecutive Ballon D'or won by a player".
