World Record Nomination 16: Nokia 1100 - The Best Selling Mobile Phone
(WorldKings) After the first mobile phone had been introduced in 1973 by Motorola, there was thousands of mobile phone models produced and sold to consumer. But which one is the best selling?
Today we are so familiar with flat, thin and luxury smart phones like Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, HTC One,... that we forgot some names that made the history of mobile phone. We can easily accept that Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy are currently the best selling mobile phone models but they are not the 'king' of mobile phone if we look back the previous years. Not Apple or Samsung, the most successful mobile phone manufacturer in history is Nokia and many top selling mobile phone models belonged to the Finnish company, including the best selling one.

Nokia 1100, a model introduced and first sold in 2003, is recognized as the best selling mobile phone model. It was a model that targeted towards users from developing countries and users who did not need advanced features beyond phone calls, text messages, alarm clock, reminder,... Competitive price, convenience and user-friendliness took Nokia 1100 to the top of the table and it was confirmed that there were 250 million 1100s sold globally.

But only Nokia 1100 is the king of mobile phone in history
After Nokia 1100, the Finnish company also produced some good phones that were included in top 10 best selling mobile phones, such as Nokia 1110, Nokia 1200, Nokia 5230,... However, the company couldn't adapt the change of the market when smart phone emerged and became the trend of mobile phone manufacturing. In 2014, Nokia mobile department was bought by Microsoft, putting an end on the glorious history of Nokia phones.
World Record Union - Worldkings are still collecting more information from many sources and it is our pleasure listening to everybody's comments to have a full evaluation on the record nomination: "Nokia 1100 - The best selling mobile phone."
