Guy quits his job to try to break the world record for selfies

A 24-year-old man from Hyderabad, India, has quit his job as a pharmaceutical research assistant to try to beat the selfie world record.
Bhanu Prakash quit his job mid-August to pursue the art of selfie-taking, after being inspired by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's record of 105 selfies taken in 3 minutes. He started doing some research into applying for the world record himself, at which point his love affair with selfies began.
He learnt that the current record for the most selfies taken in an hour is held by American football player Patrick Peterson, who managed to snap 1,449.
So now, he’s training full time to beat the record, telling Buzzfeed that he’s been doing hand and wrist exercises in preparation He’s also been spending hours holding his phone up like a statue. Dedication.
He’s invested in tools of the trade, including a tripod stand and a selfie stick.
While he’s only been training full time for the last few weeks, you could say Bhanu’s been preparing for this moment for quite some time. On the usual amateur basis.
He took his first selfie three years ago, after his brother bought him a mobile phone for his birthday. And look how far he’s come.
Bhanu says his current personal best is around 1,700 selfies in the space of an hour. But ever determined, he hopes to hit 1,800.
His official attempt date is the 18th of September.
