Reunification Palace - Historic Mansion

French colonial time, this is a place of the Governor of Indochina named Norodom Palace. After signing Genever Convention, France turned back home and gave mansion to the Saigon government. Republic of Vietnam President Ngo Dinh Diem renamed Reunification Palace and using here as the supreme headquarters for government affairs and living as well.

When designing Reunification Place, Ngo Viet Thu architect would like to find a cultural significance for works, so all arrangements of internal and external furniture symbolize the traditional philosophy, eastern rite and the nation’s character. The overview of the Palace was formed the CAT word, which means goodness, lucky. National letter presentation room of the Palace was placed in the center. A top floor is KHAU shaped word to enhance education and freedom of speech. KHAU shaped word with a vertical flag pole in the center to form a TRUNG shaped word as reminders want democracy, they must faithfully. The horizontal stroke is created by the upper veranda, balcony honor and lobby entrance porch TAM to form character. According to the three organic conception of democracy: people, intelligent, martial art, the desire want to a prosperous country that there must be have people who have 3 factors human, intelligent, martial art. TAM letter have more vertical stroke to the VUONG shaped word that means full direct bearing: NHAN(Humanity)-LE(Formality) – NGHIA(Integrity) – TRI(Mentality) – TIN(Credibility). Above the dotted tower to create CHU shaped word, symbolizing the country's sovereignty. The front of the palace, the entire 2nd floor balcony and 3rd floors combined to the main entrance porch with two columns wood covered under the eaves forming HUNG shaped word, meaning prosperity of the country forever.

Inside the Palace, all the architectures are straight lines, corridors, halls, the rooms are taking the "categorical" as the base. Architectural beauty of the Palace is also represented by the flower stone curtain shape with the burned buildings surrounding ethereal the 2nd floor.
